✌️ Books That Will Better Equip You To Deal With Stress
Over the past year I’ve read (well listened) to two books that have really aided me in dealing with stress and cultivating equanimity. They both do a phenomenal job in simplifying complex situations and give you fundamental guideposts to keep you grounded. Which in these times I really find we can’t get enough of.
1️⃣ The Surrender Experiment By Michael Singer
Michael Singer’s (better known for untethered soul) memoir and the magical things that unfold when he makes the decision to surrender to what life presents him. Rather than be in disagreement with what is, he chooses to listen to what life is telling him and leans in with momentum.
From starting a temple in Gainesville to building a 100 million dollar plus tech company it follows the serendipitous twists and turns of life in such a beautiful Way. This book really connected with me and resonated at a time where I needed a ground principle. So much can be learned from this book and what strength there is in surrendering.
2️⃣ Love Yourself Like Your Life Depends On It By Kamal Ravikant
Similar to the decision of surrendering Ravikant’s makes the vow to Love Himself. He finds the act of loving oneself the most important in a persons life. It’s a daily practice like exercise or meditation. How much of our day is cycling through negative loops in our mind. He decides to create his own mental loop, I love myself I Love myself over and over.
He breaks down his process into easy to follow steps from making the vow to love yourself, to writing down all the resentments, to burning those resentments, to having a song where you repeat the mantra I love myself, looking in the mirror and saying I love myself. I have put much of this into practice and have found it makes a profound difference when you take control of your mental loop.
I loved listening to these on audible and they’re all both read by the author which I love!
